Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
